演講摘要:
In our everyday life, visual information is essential for our interaction with the environment, for example, we read the newspaper, books, and web pages for retrieving, learning, and comprehending information and ideas. How people process media information, for example, how texts, logos and digital games attract attentions, involves very complex processes in our visual system as well as in higher cognitive functions, which has become a common goal devoted by scientists in different fields, such as artificial intelligence, linguistic, psychophysic, and media researchers. In this talk, I will start with how texts (e.g., banners and logos) attract attention in natural scene viewing (Wang & Pomplun, 2012). Next, I will focus on how people read and interact with texts, for example, what makes a sentence difficult to read. (Wang, Pomplun, Chen, Ko, & Rayner, 2010; Wang, Angele, Schotter, Yang, Simovici, Pomplun, & Rayner, 2013). Finally, I will present the signal processing of RGB-D cameras (Kinect and stereo) and its 3D visualization, and their potential media applications.
